Turkish Air Force gets new EW radar system

by Richard Tomkins Ankara, Turkey (UPI) Feb 23, 2016 UPI

A new transportable electronic warfare radar system has been delivered to the Turkish Air Force by Turkish manufacturer Aselsan Corporation.

Koral, as the system is called, is truck-mounted and is capable of jamming, deceiving and paralyzing hostile radars. It also analyzes multi-target signals and automatically or manually generates an appropriate response, the Daily Sabah reports.

It consists of two main elements: a modular-designed Radar Electronic Support unit and a Multi-radar Electronic Attack System.

"We are happy that we developed this system -- which a limited number of countries in the world have, in their inventories -- for our army though our domestic possibilities," Aselsan General Manager Faik Eken was quoted as saying.

A delivery ceremony was held Tuesday at the company's Golbasi facility in Ankara.
