Multi-mode radar is to be supplied to Lockheed Martin by the U.S. subsidiary of Airbus Defense and Space for installation on a new Coast Guard cutter.
Airbus Defense and Space Inc., in announcing the order, said the TRS-3D – designated as the AN/SPS-75 – is to be supplied under contract with affiliate Airbus DS Electronics and Border Security GmbH.
The radar will be integrated by Lockheed onto the newly ordered National Security Cutter.
"The AN/SPS-75 is the right choice to meet Coast Guard requirements for a multi-mode radar," said Mike Cosentino, president of Airbus Defense and Space. "It is currently meeting operational requirements and is consistent with Coast Guard investments in training infrastructure ashore, as well as with their existing sustainment program."
The TRS-3D Baseline D (AN/SPS-75) uses gallium nitride technology to deliver enhanced performance and reliability for air and surface surveillance, target acquisition, self-defense, gunfire support and aircraft control.
